چکیده

Background: The present study was designed to investigate the effect of citalopram, ketamine, glycine and their combinations on animal models depression. Methods: Swiss Albino male mice were subjected chronic mild stress for 6 weeks inducing depression, randomly divided into different groups: citalopram (5 10 mg/kg), ketamine (17.5 35 (50 100 mg/kg) + mg/kg). Two behavioural tests utilized assessment namely tail suspension test (TST) forced swim (FST). Immobility time recorded min, before after administration drug. Results: Citalopram (10 caused significant decrease in immobility TST model only but not FST. insignificant both models. Moreover, combination with significantly reduced Glycine at a dose mg/kg (but 50 increased as compared control group. Further, when administered increase paradigms, though insignificant. Conclusions: Ketamine demonstrated antidepressant like action FST it potentiated that might be due role NMDA receptors.

Long-Lasting Antidepressant Action of Ketamine, but Not Glycogen Synthase Kinase-3 Inhibitor SB216763, in the Chronic Mild Stress Model of Mice

BACKGROUND Clinical studies demonstrate that the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist, ketamine, induces rapid antidepressant effects in patients with refractive major depressive disorder and bipolar depression. This rapid onset of action makes ketamine a highly attractive drug for patients, particularly those who do not typically respond to therapy. A recent study suggested that gly...

Deficit in BDNF does not increase vulnerability to stress but dampens antidepressant-like effects in the unpredictable chronic mild stress.

Despite growing evidences of an association between brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and antidepressant effects, the neurotrophic hypothesis of depression is challenged by the paucity of direct links between BDNF deficit and depressive-like behaviors. The unpredictable chronic mild stress (UCMS) paradigm might take our understanding a step further by examining whether a decrease in bdnf...

Antidepressant-Like Effects of Cordycepin in a Mice Model of Chronic Unpredictable Mild Stress

Cordycepin (3'-deoxyadenosine), a major bioactive component isolated from Cordyceps militaris, has multiple pharmacological activities. This study is attempted to investigate whether cordycepin (COR) possesses beneficial effects on chronic unpredictable mild stress- (CUMS-) induced behavioral deficits (depression-like behaviors) and explore the possible mechanisms. ICR mice were subjected to ch...

Antidepressant Effects of Aripiprazole Augmentation for Cilostazol-Treated Mice Exposed to Chronic Mild Stress after Ischemic Stroke

The aim of this study was to determine the effects and underlying mechanism of aripiprazole (APZ) augmentation for cilostazol (CLS)-treated post-ischemic stroke mice that were exposed to chronic mild stress (CMS). Compared to treatment with either APZ or CLS alone, the combined treatment resulted in a greater reduction in depressive behaviors, including anhedonia, despair-like behaviors, and me...

Behavioral and biochemical evidences for antidepressant-like activity of palmatine in mice subjected to chronic unpredictable mild stress.

BACKGROUND In the present study, antidepressant-like activity of palmatine was evaluated in unstressed and stressed young male Swiss albino mice. METHODS The animals were subjected to unpredictable mild stress daily for 21 successive days to induce depression-like behavior. Palmatine (0.25, 0.5, 1 mg/kg, ip) was administered for 21 successive days to unstressed and stressed mice. The antidepr...
